Unlocking the Codex harness: how we built the App Server

OpenAI turned an internal convenience, the Codex App Server, into a public protocol once JetBrains, Xcode and its own desktop app needed to run agents in parallel. It’s backward compatible, so a client can point at a newer server and pick up fixes without a new release.
