On Stet’s 25 real tasks, Opus 4.8 and Opus 5 tied at 9 passes each but took different routes: Opus 4.8 wrote smaller patches closer to what was merged, Opus 5 explored more with 1.64x the code churn. Opus 5 was cheaper on 15 of 25 tasks despite using more tokens.
