Do people prefer stories written by AI?

A Villanova study found readers rated ChatGPT’s short stories above human ones, and highest of all when told a human wrote them. They spotted the AI story no better than chance. Senior author Deena Weisberg’s guess: AI states its themes outright, and people prefer easy reading.
